Currently I am seeking a house sitting
opportunity beginning mid-June through mid
September. The required stay can be as short as
two weeks or up to thirteen weeks.
I was raised in French speaking Canada and am
now a citizen of the United States where I teach
Recreation and Tourism Management at a
university. As a fifty-three year old mother of
two amazing young adults, both happily absorbed
in their own life's pursuits, I am able to
explore my own hobbies and interests once
again. You will find that I am equally
adaptable to a rural or urban environment and
very, very resourceful in dealing with
emergencies.
At present, I have two horses (Western and
English),one dog (Australian Sheperd) and two
cats that I solely care for but during my house
sitting experience, one of my children will
assume the responsibilities for them at their
home. Animals that are used to a consistent
routine and loving owners experience a sense of
loss and loneliness during their master's
absence and I recognize the need to ensure that
they receive sincere love and companionship
while the remaining family members
are absent. I expect the same of my pet
caregivers during my absences from home.
Being of Metis (Ojibway and French Canadian)
heritage, my personal interest is in aborigini
cultures of the world. I am fluent in French
and English but would love to have the
opportunity to be exposed to a variety of Latin
languages and/or Pacific Island dialects. As I
have travelled, my personal motto has been "When
in Rome, do as the Romans due". I love
discovering and adapting to the history and
culture that defines any local region.
While house-sitting for you, I will not only
respect your home and possessions, but firmly
believe that my responsibility extends to
maintaining a positive rapport with your
neighbors and any associates that I would have
interaction with. My reason for traveling at
this time is simple: apart from my personal
passion to explore, appreciate and embrace
cultural diversity, I always want to bring back
to the classroom a 'fresh', positive perspective
on the true beauty of discovery that
international travel offers. Guiding students
to a firm understanding that destination
development has an enormous responsibility to
honor and sustain local community and culture to
be true partners in the sustainable, global
tourism system. I'm extremely independent,
happy,
positive and fully embrace life while
maintaining a strong sense of responsibility in
all that I do.
